Not much windwith these highs. look at an isobar chart. Most of the wind is along the converging line along the coast. Palmer area had 60-80 alonf with an wildfire Wind pushing flames among housing. Luckly damage kept to minimim. Hp readings so far are around 30 in/hg but this week with projections of the highs building you should see some creep p towards the 1050 markthen aviations will switch to VFR rule below 10k,
Comment by Kevin Shaw on November 30, 2012 at 9:40pm Has there been a lot of ice fog in these really cold temperatures of late in the interior? It sure has been pretty windy in places at times, which obviously can keep a check on ice fog formation. So it has gotten below 50 below before the end of November, what will that mean for the minimum temps for December in the coldest spots in the interior. What kind of barometric pressure readings have you all been getting in this cold air?
Well the temps for the interior finall tanked into the 50 below range. Chicken, Ak hit 52 below last nigth ad more cold to come as High pressure settles in.

Comment by Kevin Shaw on August 25, 2012 at 12:10am Interesting article about this massive Arctic storm of low pressure (963 MB as I was reading the article from the link below) that has been spinning in the Arctic Ocean much of August...My previous post talked about the very start of this storm and how it was affecting the ice pack around Barrow.

NWS is making mumbling that break up may come early this year due to ice thickness being less then norm even tho the winter was colder then normal. Snow on the ice provided insulation to keep from ice build up
