Backyard Stations

Impacts to the WeatherBug Backyard Community (see front page for details)

Due to the changes made to our network, PWS stations will temporarily be unavailable as a weather site selection from while we continue to roll out related updates. Those PWS participants who are submitting data are encouraged to continue to do so. But the data's visibility on the website is going to be temporarily unavailable until we finish with our needed upgrades. PWS is still a vital part of this community and we're looking forward to bringing it back into the fold on once the upgrades are complete.

Part of the PWS system upgrades include utilizing the new WeatherBug single sign-on feature. This is important as it allows us to provide even more functionality and additional subscription options with features that PWS users will enjoy. Also, this enables us to provide weather related home automation information that our community members can access. For international folks, the big feature upgrade will be the ability to get their PWS connected to send and receive data.

WeatherBug Backyard has been changed to better reflect our spirit of community. The new name is WeatherBug Community. In addition to the name change, we're ramping things up by driving new Website traffic to this site from This means when you blog or share weather insights, more people than ever will be able to benefit from your experiences. The most active members will be eligible for WeatherBug Community incentives made possible by these upgrades.

Despite the temporary disconnect between WeatherBug products and the PWS stations, we're encouraging anyone interested in sending us weather data to go ahead and sign up as a PWS/Backyard user by clicking the registration link. This will make sure data is flowing to the system so when the upgrades are completed, you won't have any issues sending us data.

Existing PWS contributors are fine and do not need to do anything at this time.

We appreciate your patience while we are working on improvements and stay tuned for more exciting additions and product launches. If you have concerns or just need clarification on something, feel free to contact me directly at

Matt Hartley

More Rain Moving Into Mid Michigan

There is more rain moving into our area from the northwest, but our morning is starting out with sunny skies but very chilly temperatures.  We still aren't seeing much color around my area and it sure is late this year.  Northern areas are finally seeing a change in the leaves but they are usually at peak by this time. …See More

Gaithersburg Maryland VP2 backyard weather station report for Wednesday, October 7, 2015

Wednesday continued our fine October fall weather for the week. Not as cool as yesterday as temps only fell to the mid 50s under still clear, dry skies. Under sunny skies temps warmed to the mid 70s with dew points ranging from the mid 50s to the low 60s. This evening under clear skies the temps have dropped into the mid 50s with dew points just about the same. We shouldn't make much lower than the mid 50s by sunrise on Thursday. There may be some fog developing with the air temp and dew point…See More
