I've moved the Daily Temp Cycle page into this group now that NING supports in-group pages, so it should be a little easier to access. Have fun with discussions!

Omega block is responsible for these high temps but this block will break down.

Global Warming
Fossil Fuel Lifetime
Climate Change
Sea Level Rise

Global Warming will increase temperatures by about 8.7 degrees Fahrenheit, or 4.8 degrees Celsius, during Fossil Fuel Lifetime, until fossil fuel runs out in about 2240. The earth will experience a Climate Change and will revert to a mild climate similar to that of the Oligocene period of about 25 million years ago. Polar ice will slowly melt to produce a Sea Level Rise of a few millimeters a year, which will reach 20.0 feet or 6.11 meters above current levels about 2408. The current national and international policy of "reducing emissions" is futile because it only delays by a few years when the fuel is burned and only slightly alters the path to the eventual outcome.

The "typical" times for lows and highs varies throughout the year in response to changing day length and heating. Here is Dulles:

For July 7, the "typical" time of low is 3:56 am EST = 4:56 am EDT, and for the high is 2:44 pm EST = 3:44 pm EDT.

The overall "typical" low time is 4:09 am EST = 5:09 am EDT, and for the high is 2:58 pm EST = 3:58 pm EDT.

However, as you can see from the times for highs just below for the last two weeks, there is considerable variability about these "typical" times.

Correction: The times in the table in my preceding post were EST rather than EDT, as follows:

Regarding timing of highs in the Washington DC area, for what is happening currently, see
http://www.dailytemperaturecycle.com/ShowChart/KIADsize.htm
http://www.dailytemperaturecycle.com/ShowChart/KIADhdsize.htm
The times at Dulles for the past two weeks have been like this:

87.8 6/22 2:52 pm EST = 3:52 EDT
93.2 6/23 3:52 pm EST = 4:52 EDT
95.0 6/24 1:22 pm EST = 2:22 EDT
87.8 6/25 2:52 pm EST = 3:52 EDT
91.4 6/26 3:22 pm EST = 4:22 EDT
96.8 6/27 1:52 pm EST = 2:52 EDT
93.2 6/28 --
89.6 6/29 3:22 pm EST = 4:22 EDT
80.6 6/30 4:52 pm EST = 5:52 EDT
78.8 7/1 4:22 pm EST = 5:22 EDT
80.6 7/2 2:52 pm EST = 3:52 EDT
86.0 7/3 4:22 pm EST = 5:22 EDT
93.2 7/4 3:52 pm EST = 4:52 EDT
96.8 7/5 3:22 pm EST = 4:22 EDT
100.4 7/6 3:52 pm EST = 4:52 EDT

Sorry I didn’t catch the mistake in EDT/EST before posting.

The “typical” times of 4:09 am EST = 5:09 am EDT for the low, and 2:58 pm EST = 3:58 pm EDT are from analysis of long-term historical hourly records at Dulles, as part of the construction of Daily Temperature Cycle. (Meteorological agencies do not keep records of the timing of lows and highs.) As you can see even in the last two weeks, there is a lot of variability in the timing.

Regarding Alt codes for special characters, if you happen to have a separate numeric pad, you don’t have to worry about turning num lock on and off – but you do need to use the numeric keypad, wherever it is, and not the number keys in the upper keyboard row.

The pic I posted is a stock DAVIS pic. Not sure where it's located. Wish I did! The other one is uploaded by a user. It probably tells on their profile where they're from.

Beautiful surroundings for the picture of the weather station - whose is this? where is this?

Thanks Bill for the times on the max and min near Washington DC. My backyard temps don't fit that pattern for the max or the min. I usually hit my min temp for the day between 6 and 7 AM this time of year, and for the max temp I usually hit it between 6 and 6:30 PM. Thunderstorm days, few and far between of late, alters the timing on the max temp by quite a bit naturally. The values I get for my high and low temp each day are inline with stations close to me, within a degree usually. Where did you get those exact times from? I can imagine they could come from a variety of sources.
