20 has been pretty rocking lately, I would like to see 10 open up again like a couple years ago. Also I hope 6 opens like you said, I've only gotten a few local 6m QSOs.

It will be like any twilight opening of the band. What few minutes of totality there is will hardly affect any thing. May be some degrading of signals on 10 and 15 m if they are open. But the one thing you will notice is the drop in temperature and Slow recovery.
30 plus years on ham bands have never seen 6m open up. That more sprocia E and very high F2 like in 54 it was open world wide. In the 70's worked all states and 15 countries one 6m using F2 propagation

I will definitely take my time and retain the info. I am looking forward to becoming a HAM operator and the additional benefits it'll give it. It'll be a great learning experience.

i would imagine, if anything, it would be like normal night time. where 40/80m would work, although it could be the opposite, 10/6m could REALLY shine which is what im hoping hehe

Thanks for the responses.  Nathan be patient, if you are rushing through it it will be hard to retain the info. I live in Oregon and plan on camping out in the direct Totality Path for the event, was curios what I can expect with my portable HF stuff...looks I've got some reading to do ;o)

Thanks for this! Looking forward to getting my license. Just need to go over the material once more and find an upcoming testing date. Summer set me way behind in work. :-)

I'm still working on getting my HAM license (got behind this summer due to tech issues). I remember reading in a training manual that eclipses can affect propagation. It will be interesting to hear what others think.
