I found a few weather stations within a few miles of my sister's house in Whitehall MI. They are in the Davis Weather Station network. One is at the "world's largest weathervane" in Montague, right at the border with Whitehall, at the east end of White Lake. The other station is at the White River Lighthouse, very close to where White Lake/River dumps out into Lake Michigan. So far the data looks pretty good I think. Will be monitoring it over the next few months till I leave for Whitehall on August 9.

... Gusty winds possible through mid afternoon... 

A decaying complex of showers and thunderstorms has induced a strong
pressure gradient across Western Lake Superior and the Bayfield
peninsula late this morning. As the backside of the showers passes by
early this afternoon... gusty southeast winds to 50 mph may
occur... especially across the higher terrain.
