Albuquerque's Weather Continues to See-Saw

We've seen almost no rain so far this year, with just .16" in April and a total of .80" since January 1st.  But that hasn't stopped the weather from being quirky.  Daytime highs have ranged from a chilly 48° to a toasty 85° and there have been three hard freeze nights in the last two weeks, much to the dismay of my tomato plants.Sunday's temperatures ranged from a morning low of 47° at 7:00 AM to a high of 72° at 2:40 PM under partly sunny skies, winds peaked at 41 mph overnight as a cold front…See More

Still Cold But No Snow Yet In Albuquerque

We've seen a few flakes here and there, but nothing that could be called a snowfall.  Our weather has been cold and more cloudy than normal, dropping into the teens and twenties at night and hovering around  40° for our daytime highs.  Normal temperatures for December 28 are be 26° low and 45° high.We have another chance for snow showers with a system that will be moving into the Albuquerque area Sunday afternoon.  Tonight will be in the low 20s warming to the upper 30s on Sunday.  A 20% chance…See More

Albuquerque Enjoys A Rainy Morning

Just a few snow flakes mixed in with the rain in the city, but the mountains collected mostly snow.  Our overnight temperatures were warmer than expected, in fact our high temperature of 50° was reached at 1:33 AM.  The current temperature of 32° is our low for the day.  The rain gauge collected .20" of rain, bringing our annual total to 4.79".  It has been a very dry year.  Skies started clearing late this afternoon and it is now partly cloudy and partly starry.Overnight lows will be in the…See More

Albuquerque May Have Snow or Rain on Friday

After a long stretch of 10 to 15 degrees above normal temperatures, Albuquerque's weather got back to normal for a few days earlier this week with daytime readings in the mid 40s and overnight lows in the mid 20s.  There is even a chance we may finally get some precipitation overnight and into Friday, which is sorely needed.  Thursday's high topped out at a 10+ 56° and 19% humidity with clear skies and light winds and a dew point of 4°.  This morning's low was 32° with 37% humidity. The weather…See More

Happy New Year To All From Albuquerque, NM

Posted on January 1, 2013 at 12:59am 0 Comments

The last day of 2012 began with an overnight snowfall of about an inch at my house.  Not a lot, but the mountains were beautiful.  It melted off quickly when the sun came out mid morning, leaving a measurement of .06" in the gauge.  That brings us to a grand total of 4.88" for all of 2012, the driest year I have ever recorded in the 24 years I have been keeping records.  We reached a high of 39° with 31% humidity at 2:30 PM. …

Hi Kay,  no rain today, but it has been wet latly, also very cool, most of our highs are only in the 40's and 50's right by the lake. Any north wind off the cold water and its going to be cool here in town.  Five miles inland and it could be ten degrees warmer.

Kay, the computer forecast models are awful at forecasting this year and thats why I have no hair left! La Nina is proving to be a real monster! There will be a major January thaw in the east in the beginning of January!

Thank you. It is always nice to hear from Albuquerqueans (sp?) that appreciate nature. I think people who value weather are looking in the right direction (haha).

Another 60 miles east and I'd be off the map, LOL. I'm about ten miles south of Muskogee, or 60 west of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Called the county game warden a bit earlier. He said I was the second call today about a big cat. Looks like I have more than the weather to watch now.
