We've seen almost no rain so far this year, with just .16" in April and a total of .80" since January 1st. But that hasn't stopped the weather from being quirky. Daytime highs have ranged from a chilly 48° to a toasty 85° and there have been three hard freeze nights in the last two weeks, much to the dismay of my tomato plants.

The last day of 2012 began with an overnight snowfall of about an inch at my house. Not a lot, but the mountains were beautiful. It melted off quickly when the sun came out mid morning, leaving a measurement of .06" in the gauge. That brings us to a grand total of 4.88" for all of 2012, the driest year I have ever recorded in the 24 years I have been keeping records. We warmed up a bit today, reaching a high of 45° with 26% humidity just before 3 PM. Our morning low of 29° was reached just after midnight. Skies have been cloudy all day with almost calm SE winds. Average temperatures for December 30th, low 26°, high 45° F.
