Here in Mount Airy, MD we are getting complete white out conditions. The wind just picked up and I got a 40 mph gust on the local WeatherBug Station. The areas highlighted in brown are where we are getting >40mph gusts. I have never seen it snowing this hard. As I look out the window, all I can see is WHITE.…

Preparing for major snow here in Germantown, MD

Posted on February 5, 2010 at 9:26am 2 Comments

I know Kevin is probably having the time of his life with all this snow coming! I know my kids are asking (over and over and over) when will it start. How much do you think it will be. It has been a great opportunity to sit down and explain to them what little I know about weather systems and what is happening.

See below and update from our WeatherBug Meteorologist James West:

Everything is continuing to come together for a major Winter Storm to cripple the…

What happend to the snow???

Posted on January 18, 2010 at 12:49pm 6 Comments

I was looking out our back window this morning thinking about how great it was to have the 18 inches of snow right before Christmas and the kids having fun sledding down the hill in the back yard.

I am missing the snow. This 50 degree weather is the pitts! Come on really cold weather! Come back to Maryland!!

On another note, we had to recent articles about WeatherBug I think you might enjoy.

Hello Christopher! Thank you for joining up in my space weather group. Sorry have not been here to personally welcome you, having family issues since the death of my husbands parents the last few months. I so love weather stuff and my weather of choice is Thundersnow. I have seen it a few times here on Camano Island. Was so pretty. Saw it happen in the daytime and at night. Changes the hue of the air to an orange tinge. Was so cool. At night I thought it was transformers blowing up but it was again Thundersnow. We were without power for a few days but it was so cool to watch it. Thundersnow.... best of both worlds. you get snow and you get lightning and thunder. what a real treat!

Nathan Parker suggested that I contact you to see if you could do something so that I can send my Backyard Station data to the Backyard Network. I lve in Australia and as you know there is no international facility at the moment. I hope you can help as it would allow me to fully participate in the community

Hey Chris! Since our Canadian Farmer's network is made up of DAVIS Stations, should someone at WeatherBug reach out to them and see if some would like to join here? That way we can give them additional support with software and have some of them participate in discussions. Thanks! NP
