CoCoRaHS

The Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow (CoCoRaHS) network is a grassroots network of volunteers who measure daily precipitation using a manual rain gauge (all volunteers must use the same style 4-inch plastic rain gauge).  Measurements are reported at 7:00 AM local time (2 1/2 hour window allows for flexibility) and are immediately available to the public on maps and in list format.  The data is used by several entities including NOAA's National Weather Service, NASA, and many more. …See More

Posted on January 1, 2017 at 7:05pm 0 Comments

Happy New Year everyone! Been a cool start to the new year and a great day to rest up before kicking 2017 into over drive. There's a possibility of snow later this week in Arkansas, as well as freezing temperatures late next week to accompany it.

I hope everyone has a blessed and Happy…

Fires, Earthquakes, and Supermoon

I recently heard in the news fires are sweeping across the nation, including the North Georgia Mountains where I lived a few years. If anyone has any reports to share concerning the recent fires sweeping across our nation, please share them with us right here on the WeatherBug Community Blog.

I also heard about a 7.5 magnitude earthquake that struck New Zealand. If anyone…

Disclaimer: The following blog entry is a personal blog entry, and the following video interview was a personal interview of me from The Weather Channel regarding a recent severe weather event and is not an official blog post and/or interview representing WeatherBug/Earth Networks.

Posted on July 14, 2016 at 8:59pm 3 Comments

We've recently added a new feature to our mobile apps called "Communities". The main goal of the feature is to provide organizations with a content management publisher that can integrate with our mobile apps. Some organizations are already taking advantage of this new feature.

In addition to these other organizations, we have rolled our own set of tiles in our "Communities" publisher that allows WeatherBug Community members to access various portions of the WeatherBug…

My Thoughts on the 2016 US Presidential Election

Last night, I posted my thoughts on the 2016 US Presidential Election and addressed the recent protests in a blog post on another blog I am contributing to for Focusing on the Mark Ministries. You can read my blog post by clicking here. In it, I wanted to call the citizens of our country to […]

THE TEMPLE, THE TRIBULATION, AND THE TREE. LOOK UP! (Part 2)

This entry is part 9 of 9 in the series The Gospel of Luke Last week we looked at the signs of the times. This week we saw the worst week for law enforcement since 9/11. Remember: Look up because your redemption is drawing near! It’s a bit like reading through a newspaper to see […]

Please do!  http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B9IBFCY is the first novel (there are prequel novellas but those don't deal with the weather nearly so much, though http://tinyurl.com/PGKindle is an environmental medical detective story ripped from the headlines here in Pennsylvania).  The Great Succession Crisis establishes the world building in the Peers of Beinan series so there's a lot about the weather in that, even though narratively GSC is less important than book two, http://viewBook.at/GhostsPast.  Ghosts has a lot of ecology to it and a lot more development into the two dominant religions on Beinan (which are solidly grounded in social science research of course).  You will like the discussions that High Priestess Aina has with Lord Knight Elendir about religion and terrorism after Elendir starts to think religion is the reason why his parents were murdered.  I make a clear and strong statement about the peaceful nature of both religions that will certainly resonant.

Finally we get back to the weather as a character in http://viewBook.at/AnyuReturns. Some great science in there as Princess Anyu struggles to survive the very deadly and hostile environment on D425E25 Tertius.

At 1:54am on December 31, 2015, Laurel A. Rockefeller said…

I actually just joined the group and posted a bit of personal introduction there.  I find that the weather typically gets forgotten about by science fiction authors.  I didn't.  As a matter of fact at the end of the final book "Princess Anyu Returns" I made a weather event the sign received from the ground that the bad guys had finally been defeated.  Weather is EVERYWHERE in The Peers of Beinan books.

At 1:38am on December 31, 2015, Laurel A. Rockefeller said…

That's reassuring.  Actually it's odd but when I think about the weather the first thing that comes to mind is weather on OTHER planets.  Maybe that is because I made the weather a character in my Peers of Beinan scifi series?

I do hope by "family" you mean people with more sense and sanity than my blood relations possess!  And dare I say more interest in science? :)  #LibDemsFightBack

Nathan, is it true that Weatherbug no longer supports the Elite version of the Weatherbug app for Android even though I paid for it and that I now will have to pay a second time in the form of an annual subscription to get rid of ads?

Hi Nathan,  Yes, I thought I had found my error but still no go.  Here's the information again:

I installed WeatherBug 10 V. 10.0.5.29 on my computer two days ago.   My weather station is not listed on the drop-down menu.  There are 99 stations on that list.

My station does publish on the new WeatherBug cloud site OK.  I am using the WeatherBug Module for Davis and have the latest version.  Station ID p08676, #20272, Eastern Foothills, Albuquerque, NM.

Is there anything else I should do to make it work?

FYI, Before installing WeatherBug 10 I was running the previous Beta version.  In that version it had the name of my station but the data was always slightly different than shown on my actual weather station or on the WeatherBug web page.

No weather station right now. I had a nice Davis Instruments one for a long time but it finally bit the dust. I want to get a new one soon.

How do I get the good old paid version? The last thing I need is more junk mail from sponsors and I'd rather pay my $19.95 to the people at WeatherBug  than buy something I don't need and don't want.
