Even though we are enjoying this magnificent weather that Mother Nature has sent our way, we really do need some rain. Our monthly precip for March was only .98 inches here at my house. I have always said that the weather balances itself out and this year we may be making up for all the rain that we got last year. With the exceptionally warm temps that we are expecting this weekend,…Continue

This rare tornado outbreak happened on Friday May 31, 1985 and killed 88 people. An event like this can happen again but you must have the perfect conditions for this to occur!

Clouds ruled today in the Susquehanna Valley. It was breezy all day too. As a matter of fact it was very windy at times. I had a peak wind gust in my backyard at 39 miles per hour, which would border on gale force. We waited for the rain to move in all day but all we got so far were a few sprinkles and spritzes. Temperatures ranged from the upper 30's to the mid 40's. This evening we are still left with cloudy skies and very breezy conditions. Very intense low…Continue

The crocus is our first flower to bloom in the Spring and they are showing their heads above the leaves remaining from last Fall. That's my cue to get out and clean up the flower beds and get them ready for this years planting. The next few days will really feel like spring, or maybe more like summer with temps on Friday to possibly reach 80F. Right now (9:30 AM), our skies are clear…Continue
...and it is sort of like waiting for the other shoe to drop. Springtime in Nebraska is noted for being very nice one week and blowing in two feet of snow the next.
The last couple of days have been super. Clear, Nebraska blue skies and of course the Nebraska wind, highs into the 80's. The joke is told that one day the wind stopped and everyone fell down because they had been so used to leaning into the wind.
Yards are starting to look like spring, the elm trees…Continue

STORM: Temperatures are expected to drop dramatically.
Other than some fog and mist this morning, there was no precipitation falling today in my backyard. Skies remained mostly cloudy for the remainder of the day with an on and off peek of sun. Temperatures ranged from a morning low in the lower 40's to an afternoon high in the low to mid 60's. A storm system that was developing near the Carolina Coast at midday is forecast to strengthen as it moves slowly northward along the Mid Atlantic coast. The low should…Continue
