Hi All. I have been checking my blogs and realize that I have never actually mentioned much about Quincy or where I live.
The Quincy area was first visited in 1621 and the settlement established in 1625. From then on the it became part of various other towns until 1792 when it was incorporated as a separate town named after Colonel John Quincy and was made a city in 1888. Quincy is the birthplace of former US Presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams, as well as statesman John…

Sunrise over Hingham Bay looking from our foreshore. Slight breeze from the northeast and a temperature of 53F. Went for an early morning bike ride which was OK until turning for home and had to push into a head wind of about 10 mph. Went to a Library Book Sale and did OK. The clouds filled in a bit more but with the…

Finally! A Dry Day in Mid Michigan
My daffodils have finally opened. They always seem to bloom later than everyone elses. They were blooming in town a week ago. Now I just hope that we don't get any heavy rain to ruin them. Our morning is mostly cloudy with diffused sunlight. Yesterday was beautiful once the morning clouds moved out. I…

VP2 backyard report from Gaithersburg Maryland for Friday, April 29, 2011
Friday was a cooler, drier, sunnier, and much calmer day than the past
few before it were. A repeat of it should be in order on Saturday,
with perhaps a few degrees tacked on the high temp, though Saturday
sunrise should see temps in the 40s. (We didn't quite make it into the 40s
on Friday morning like I thought we would.) Sunday morning might…

Friday 81°, Saturday 67°, Sunday 49°, Monday SNOW???
Yes folks, that is the forecast Albuquerque is looking at right now. Friday was a warm 81° with lots of sun and, unfortunately, lots of wind. The city disappeared in a light brown fog of dust and debris between 2:00 and 7:00 PM. …

Much Flooding in Mid Michigan
This was not an unfamiliar sight yesterday as we drove to Troy, near Detroit, to take my iPhone in for repair. Unfortunately, it is hopeless. The good news is that the Apple Store is going to replace it at no cost even though I didn't have Apple Care. But it will be a week before the new one comes in. So at this time, I'm going through iPhone withdrawal. I had to buy a cheap cell phone to replace it for now and don't like it. But I no longer have a land line so I had to… Continue
