A glance at the advisory map shows that most of New Mexico is under a flash flood warning as of 7:53 PM. Parts of Albuquerque are getting drenched right now, but my home in the Eastern Foothills of Albuquerque may escape the brunt of the storm since it seems to be moving mostly Northwest across the Southern section of the city. The thunder is getting closer, though. A system that built over the Sandia Mountains around 3:00 PM left .08 inch on my rain gauge this afternoon and that may be all we…

The rain missed Albuquerque again today, but the thunder boomed on the other side of the Sandia Mountains late in the afternoon. My home is on the West slope of the mountains, just a block or so from where the base starts its steep upward climb. The Summer thundershowers like to build up over the mountains and then roll in whatever direction suits them that day. Today was the East's side turn again, maybe tomorrow it will be our turn.
Friday was a repeat of the day before, with just…

There were more clouds than sun today and it was a rather humid all day. The temperature quickly rose to almost 86° at 4:20 this afternoon when the clouds receded and the sun peeked out, but retreated back into the 70's again by 5:00. It tried to rain, but a smattering of silver dollar size drops on the patio was all it could muster. We are really enjoying this cloudy and cool weather since we didn't receive any Spring showers this year and the monsoon season got off to a late…

After all of the storms which affected the southern counties of our state again, yesterday evening was very pleasant. The AC was turned off and fresh air, a commodity which we haven't experienced much this summer, filled the house. I have always loved sitting outdoors in summer but this year has just been too hot even at night. Severe…
