Small Town In Western Washington Experiences Funnel Cloud

As you can see here from WeatherBug media partner, KING5 in Seattle, Mount Vernon in Washington (state) has seen something truly once in a lifetime. A fully formed funnel cloud making an appearance here in the town I happen to live in. For those of you in the mid-west shaking your heads at the thought of something like this being "odd", realize this isn't "done" in this region. To be completely honest, I was utterly blown away by the news. This just doesn't happen around here at all.

Now for the less exciting facts.

1) This would be considered a cold core funnel cloud. It didn't actually touch ground and thankfully, nothing devastating actually happened from this event.

2) The authorities were alerted to the event and it was being monitored.

3) Everyone kept about their wits and didn't overreact.

Pretty exciting day, to say the least. If we get another event like this here in Mount Vernon, WA in the future, I will be sharing the events here as they unfold.
