I got up in the late morning and played sheepshead (or shaftskopf in German), a Wisconsin/ German traditional card game played with just half the deck of cards for a few hours with 3 other local friends. My friends brough some snacks and makings for salami sandwiches that were yummy. I started out the game by "picking the blind" 3 straight times and winning two of the 3 games. But in the end I was in the negative with 2 others (Martin and Art) and Gerry being the only one positive. It was fun and we will do it again. Our big lobby room is set up beautifully for cards, and for serving food and drinks. A good time was had by all and we will have another game in the not too distant future hopefully. The game finished, I picked up my mail, and stayed in my apartment the rest of the day. Later in the afternoon after checking my email I had an everything bagel with ham and cream cheese and coffee for a late brunch. More fun and data base and email work till the Wisconsin Badger basketball game against Michigan. Halftime I reheated stuffed peppers my daughter Tracy brought with her when she visited in the late afternoon. It was great to see her, and she brought some other goodies and decluttered my kitchen counters and put things away out of sight from the counters and the stuff she brought me. She was here about an hour before she had to go into work by 5 PM. I also made some additional stuffed peppers from the stuffing Tracy brought me that I added to two green peppers cut in half that I cooked in the oven and were also delicious. We lost our game to Michigan as I later on snacked a bit on a few triscuits and hot pepper cheese. I had some spicy low sodium V8 for additional vegetable intake. I had my usual couple of bottles of water.
We are clear early this Friday morning with temperatures now in the upper 20s and heading down into the mid 20s by sunrise. Sunny skies should persist on Friday with highs in the upper 40s and lows around freezing on Friday night. It looks like sunny skies and mild temps over the weekend, with highs in the mid 60s and lows in the low to mid 40s.
According to Channel 4 radar, there are just a few scattered snow showers falling over parts of NY state in the vicinity of the Catskill Mtns, along with scattered rain and snow showers over parts of south-central VA and north-central NC at this time. Pretty dry elsewhere.
Kevin reporting more specific observations as the days pass, and feeling more confident on some of the parameters I discuss. I still need to work on my precipitation and wind data.
